Acne Scarring
In addition to the trauma of the acne itself, often the acne leaves scars. With our Laser treatments and Soft Dermal Fillers these scars can often be reduced significantly or erased altogether.
Broken Blood Vessels
Whether you’re a man or a woman, you may have noticed fine, little red veins on the nose, chin, or cheeks. These are broken blood vessels or telangiectasis and can occur anywhere on the face, or elsewhere, but most commonly occur on and around the nose, cheeks, and chin. Broken blood vessels can appear as a normal part of aging or as a result from pregnancy, childbirth, birth control pills, estrogen-replacement therapy, sun damage, the skin condition called rosacea and even corticosteroids. Although not usually a medical problem, telangiectasias can be an aesthetic one because the blood vessels can be quite noticeable and make-up usually may not cover effectively.
Off the face, larger types of broken blood vessels can occur which are commonly referred to as spider veins. Spider veins of the legs can be treated by injection sclerotherapy or by laser removal.
Fine Lines & Wrinkles
As we age, our faces begin to show the effects of gravity, sun exposure and years of facial muscle movement, such as smiling, chewing and squinting. The underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful and plumped up begin to break down, often leaving laugh lines, smile lines, crow’s feet or facial creases over the areas where this muscle movement occurs.
Lasers that are used either cause new collagen generation which results in a better skin tone or a more invasive treatment that removes the Epidermis. This causes the skin to regenerate and over the next several weeks you have skin that is dramatically improved. The improvement and healing process continues to occur over the next several months after the laser treatment.
Soft-tissue fillers, most commonly injectable collagen or fat, and recently FDA approved Restylane, can help fill in these lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face. They can also add fullness to the lips and cheeks. Injectable fillers may be used alone or in conjunction with a resurfacing procedure, such as a laser treatment.
Injectable fillers are primarily used to improve the appearance of the skin’s texture. They can help fill out deep facial wrinkles, creases and furrows, “sunken” cheeks, skin depressions and some types of scars. They can also be used to add a fuller, more sensuous look to the lips.
Port Wine Stains or Birthmarks
Whether you were born with marks or acquired spots over age, abnormal colorations can be a hindrance in appearance. Laser treatments can minimize or eradicate the marks altogether.
Rosacea
Rosacea affects many people, more than they actually know. The more severe signs of rosacea can include persistent redness or flushing anywhere on the face or neck, small yet visible blood vessels, bumps or pimples, and sometimes watery, irritated eyes. These symptoms are often portrayed by flare-ups and remissions that may start to occur after the age of 35. If left untreated the symptoms could become more persistent and permanent.
Sun Damage
The sun’s UV rays are to blame for many of today’s skin care concerns. Damage from exposure to the sun shows up in many forms including sun burns, wrinkles and other signs of premature aging, loss in skin elasticity, and of course, the much dreaded skin cancer, just to name a few.
Here at Samuel K. Gooldy, MD, PC, we are equipped to repair any if not all of the damage caused by the sun. From laser therapies that diminish the signs of sun aging to specially formulated products that will renew damaged skin and prevent any further damage, we are prepared to help you for life.
Unwanted Hair
We offer gentle, long-lasting solutions to unwanted hair. Imagine not having to shave, tweeze or wax. A health care professional will determine the best treatment plan for you based on your hair type, texture and pigment.
Also if you suffer from shaving bumps or ingrown hairs this treatment is excellent for the removal of hair that causes these conditions. This problem results when highly curly hairs grow back into the skin causing inflammation and a foreign body reaction. Over time, this can cause keloidal scarring which looks like hard bumps.
